History
Au Pair are French derived words and indicate
equal with. Au Pairs are domestic or international assistant from a foreign
country who lives with an Australian family as part of a cultural experience. Au
Pairs are treated as family members rather than domestic workers. The
conception of an au pair initiated from Europe. It started after World War II.
Before this, an ample source of local servants had been accessible to look
after the children of middle and upper-class families, but after the war it has
changed in public outlooks, made the old system isolated to most middle class
parents. At the same period of time, social revolution occurred and it has
become very common that many middle class girls who needed to earn for their
own living and wanted to grow learning aims made them to move to the foreign
regions and foreign cultures.
Responsibilities
Au pairs are likely to do a child caring
as well as the household work. An au pair's duties may contain: -
- Au Pair should awake the children in the morning.
- Au The pair should watch that children are well groomed and dressed.
- Make sure children's beds are prepared and their rooms are clean.
- Au Pair should prepare light breakfast and lunch for the children.
- After Breakfast, clean up the dishes.
- Au Pairs should be sure about children’s books and homework for school.
- Duties include taking kids to and fro school.
- Preparing a healthy afternoon snack.
- Help the children with their day to day homework.
- Play with children.
- Take the children on outings to parks, playgroups and get involved in many playing activities.
- Doing children’s laundry and ironing their clothes.
- Cleaning the children’s bathroom and preparing the bed for sleep.
